Cyber in the Rye

Rye is an ancient cereal grain that today is one of the best cover crops available. It ability to survive winter better than most cereal grains makes it the ideal choice to protect soils from erosion. This ability to prevent erosion continues into the spring growing season if producers plant no till in the standing rye. Some studies have shown rye straw to have allopathic effect on weeds seed. Need straw in the spring market, then plant rye in the fall and bale it in the late spring. Rye bread makes for a good Rueben sandwich. Then there is sourdough rye bread. Rye has quite a pedigree!
