Each year, 4-H'ers from Person and several surrounding counties participate in the North Central Junior Livestock Show and Sale. This year's show was held on April 15 & 16th at the Central Carolina Holstein Association Barn in Orange Grove.
Local business, civic and individual sponsors help the Livestock Show Steering Committee sponsor the show. Fitting and showing is the art of training, grooming, and showing livestock to make them more presentable in competitive exhibitions. Judging of a showmanship contest is based on preparation of animals for show, their apparent training, and the appearance and behavior of the participating showmen.
Record books are full of information that the children collect about their animal and about what they have done with their animals. The kids
are sure to take some pictures of themselves performing several of the tasks that go along with showing an animal. They were judged on the second day of the show against all of the other record books in their category.
Congratulations to them and all of our participants. You all did a wonderful job.
